Breakdown options.
Because each breakdown company offers slightly different services it
can seem a little difficult to compare breakdown cover from one company with
another. They all use their own terms for the products they provide,
however, there are four main options they all offer
- Roadside Assistance
- Vehicle Recovery
- Home Call Out
- Onward Travel
Roadside Assistance.
All breakdown policies include roadside cover. If you breakdown away from home your breakdown company will
send somebody to fix the problem at the roadside. If your vehicle can't be fixed it wll be towed to the nearest garage.
Your policy includes free labour (up to about 60 minutes), however,
if replacement parts are needed these are not included in the cover
Vehicle Recovery.
Breakdown recovery will cover your car and it's occupants to be transported to any place you wish
within the UK mainland if it can't be fixed at the roadside.
Home Call Out.
Home call out will cover your car should it breakdown at home or within a set distance of your home
which roadside assistance does not cover you for.
Onward Travel.
Onward travel options vary greatly between different breakdown companies. Some of the things that maybe included are:
- Car hire or alternative forms of transport either to continue your journey or return home
- Accommodation while repairs are being carried out (if the breakdown happens more than a specified distance from your home)
- Transport costs to retrieve your vehicle
- Relief driver to drive your vehicle to your destination (if during the journey the only driver is taken ill or injureded)
